Hopefully, the voters are able to see through this smear campaign
To the Editor:
As you know, the race for Guilderland Town Justice has been very contentious. With that said, it is time to let the voters know what’s been happening on the campaign trail.
It has been brought to the attention of Judge Christine Napierski’s campaign that her Democratic opponent’s campaign is spreading horrific rumors about her. The Robert F Kennedy Democratic Club Facebook page posted vicious lies trying to tie Judge Napierski to the unthinkable mass murder in Squirrel Hill in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, basically calling her a murderer and anti-Semite.
This all stemmed from their paid Facebook advertisement targeting the Guilderland Democrats’ Facebook users. Why? Because Judge Napierski, a Democrat, is endorsed by the Conservative Party — the same party that Bryan Clenahan’s mother-in-law, Judge Denise Randall, and Guilderland Town Supervisor Peter Barber were endorsed by the last time they ran.
In fact, if you look at the most recent history of Guilderland Democrats, you’ll see more than 10 candidates, including Paul Pastore, Patricia Slavik, Jean Cataldo, and disbarred convicted felon Judge Richard Sherwood, were cross-endorsed by the Conservative Party. This is a typical cross-endorsement in Guilderland.
We tried to respond on the Facebook pages of both the RFK Democratic Club and the Albany County Democrats, but they deleted our posts. So much for free speech.
Her Democratic opponent’s campaign is also spreading rumors of a DWI arrest. This is absolutely false. Judge Napierski has never been arrested for DWI or any other crime, period. Hopefully, the voters are able to see through this smear campaign.
Judge Napierski’s campaign has been nothing but ethical and honest, always stating the facts and nothing else. Many people might not know that Judge Napierski wanted to run, and keep her job, as a Democrat but they demanded she, a more qualified professional, step aside for a party insider.
I hope Libby Post, her Democratic opponent’s campaign consultant, gets the message. Judge Christine Napierski is not backing down. She is proud to have the support of all parties since a judge should be impartial and apolitical.
By the way — stop vandalizing our lawn signs as someone has been cutting one leg off numerous signs!
