The total tax levy — which includes the town’s special districts — is projected to increase slightly, from about $627,500 to $633,800, while the townwide tax paying into Knox’s general and highway funds, stays the same at $266,525.

RENSSELAERVILLE — Billed as an “unprecedented investment,” the governor on Wednesday announced that the state’s transportation department will spend more than $600 million in over 180 paving projects across New York during the 2026 construction season. 

School district residents will vote on the proposal on Monday, Nov. 10, from 7 a.m to 9 p.m., at the elementary school cafeteria.

Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy said the county’s Innovation Partnership with MVP paid $195,000 for the Fitness Court while the county paid an additional $50,000 in labor, equipment, and materials to construct the court.

BERNE — A Berne man is due in town court this week on charges of reckless endangerment and driving while intoxicated.

Thomas Murphy, 40, was arrested on Aug. 16 after, police say, he intentionally drove a side-by-side Utility Terrain Vehicle into a pickup truck.

WESTERLO — Richard H. Rapp, who worked for Westerlo for more than half a century — serving as supervisor for 41 years — died on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025.

Volunteers constructed 72 timber box steps that wrap around and descend into the steep sinkhole of Knox Cave, near the hamlet of Knox. 

They replace a dilapidated series of steps made from railroad ties, pipe, and rebar in 1979.
