On July 16, Governor Kathy Hochul announced $567 million is being made available to low-income households statewide to pay off past electric and gas bills.

This map is the first of its kind to visualize internet access at a household level across New York State, allowing for a more specific understanding of where service is most needed, and preventing unserved households from being masked by those that may be served around them. 

The Food and Drug Administration’s Advisory Committee on Wednesday approved expanding emergency use authorization for the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines for children from six months through 5 years old.

After the FDA makes a final decision, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will make its recommendation.

— Megan Elizabeth Becker of Schenectady, majoring in engineering and management;

— Molly R DiCaprio of Schenectady, majoring in mechanical engineering;

These local students were named to the dean’s list or received a similar honor from their college or university for the spring 2022 semester:

— Rachel Crawford, a Clayton A. Bouton High School graduate, who majored in psychology at Siena College, graduating in May, was on the Dean’s list her final semester;

These local students were named to the dean’s list at Hudson Valley Community College for the spring 2022 semester with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher:
 

— Latosha Miller of Delmar, majoring in accounting;

— James Gade of Altamont, majoring in architectural technology;

These local students were named to the dean’s list at State University of New York Oneonta for the spring 2022 semester with a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher:

 

— Joanna Brach of Westerlo, majoring in bachelor of arts in English;

— Anna Ciccarelli of Schenectady;

— Julia Ciccarelli of Schenectady;

While the picture in New York generally improved this week as most of the state has counties with low or medium community levels of COVID-19 — Albany County, for the first time in nearly two months, was deemed “medium” last Friday — most of the nation is seeing an upward trend in cases and in hospitalizations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
