The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy invites the public to come, hike, and enjoy the last bit of summer at its Normans Kill West Preserve this Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon.

These local students have recently earned diplomas:

— Matthew Siracusa of Guilderland, graduated from the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi with an associate of applied science degree in recreation and sports management;

A hayfield just over the Guilderland town line has been turned into a new park for competitive youth baseball. It's a work in progress, a field of dreams.

The following local students graduated from Siena College in May:

The Annual Fall Fish Pond Stocking Program at the Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District for private pond owners is underway.

Species available include rainbow trout, brook trout, largemouth bass, channel catfish, and minnow. 

United States Airforce Airman Taylor Anne Dedrick has completed basic training and tech school in Texas.
Dedrick is a graduate of Cohoes High School and Siena College. She is the daughter of Erik and Deana Dedrick of Albany, and Kelly Shannon of Wataerford.

Carol M. Kaelin died last week but her words, many of them published in The Enterprise, will live on.

“Basically, you are now in charge of your own health,” said Guilderland Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kathy Burbank, of what the legislation is trying to accomplish. “It’s supposed to make people more aware of their health and how much it costs.”
