BETHLEHEM —  Michelle Moczulski, who graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in June and plans to study environmental science at Villanova University in the fall, has won a $2,000 scholarship from the Friends of Five Rivers.

A developer of solar arrays has pulled out, but New Scotland will “continue to look for opportunities to do something” with two landfills on Upper Flatrock Road.

With guidelines from New York State in hand, Voorheesville now has just two weeks to come up with its own reopening plan to submit back to the state.

SLINGERLANDS — Karen Ann Wengert Boyea, of Slingerlands, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 25, 2020, as did her husband of 47 years, Basil A. Boyea, “whom she loved, cherished, and guided through the last years of their lives,” her family wrote in a tribute.

The farm-stand owner’s application for a special-use permit will not be heard by the planning board on July 7 as she had expected.

NEW SCOTLAND — The Presbyterian Church in New Scotland will hold its annual Summer Barbecue on Thursday, July 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the church’s parking lot, at 2010 New Scotland Road in Slingerlands.

Customers in New Scotland’s Northeast Water District could have clearer water and fire protection if the town obtains grants that would lower the cost to connect to a new water source. 

Basil Adams Boyea

NEW SCOTLAND — Basil Adams Boyea, 87, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 25, 2020, along with his beloved wife, Karen Wengert Boyea, 75.

Mr. Boyea was born on Dec. 4, 1932 at the “home farm” on the Barrows Road in Stowe, Vermont to Roy A. Boyea and Phyllis Adams Boyea. He was a 1952 graduate of Stowe High School.
