“It’s a dexterity game, a tabletop game that originated in Canada,” said Jason Molloy, president of the Extra Pint Crokinole Club. “It’s a disc-flicking game with aspects of curling, darts, marbles, and bocce ball.”
The volunteers managed to keep the fire to the first floor, Chief Steve Ayers said, although there was smoke damage on the second floor. “But the family should be able to get their possessions intact from the second floor,” he said.
A year ago, the workshop, a not-for-profit chartered by the state’s Board of Regents that offers kids summertime “adventures in learning,” was awarded an $8,000 grant by the Preservation League of New York State to fund a cultural landscape report.
