KNOX — A hard-working and frugal man, George Van Etten loved farming his land and providing for his family.

After a long illness, he died in his sleep at his Knox home on Aug. 22, 2009. He was 76.

Crosier bows out of race

BERNE — Supervisor Kevin Crosier is officially not running for a third term this fall. The Albany County Conservative Party, which endorsed Crosier in the past, will not likely nominate a replacement.

WESTERLO — Edward “Ned” Stevens, a Westerlo resident who has been vocal at town board meetings, was sworn in last week to his new position on the town’s planning board.
