$85M budget draft in limbo

GUILDERLAND — The school board and the citizens advising it on next year’s budget are in a holding pattern as they wait for figures on federal aid that may make up for state cuts.

ALTAMONT — Mayor James Gaughan was elected for a second four-year term on Wednesday with two-thirds of the vote against challenger Harvey Vlahos; the unofficial count was 327 to 218.

To cut 47 jobs, hike taxes 4%

GUILDERLAND — As the recession deepens, the school superintendent here proposed an $85 million budget Tuesday night that cuts 47 jobs.

 ALTAMONT—Incumbent trustees Kerry Dineen and Dean Whalen are running unopposed in the March 18 election for second four-year terms. Dineen is running on the same ticket as Mayor James Gaughan while Whalen is running independently.

ALTAMONT— Neil Taber is running unopposed for his eighth term as judge on the Fairness Party line. It’s a one-man party he created himself.

GUILDERLAND — The town board is divided on whether to add a third part-time judge to its court.
