GUILDERLAND — Five candidates are vying for three Guilderland School Board seats in the May 19 election. Petitions to run were due on Monday.

For the first time in more than a decade, the candidates are divided in their support of the budget.

GUILDERLAND — , seeking her second term on the board, wants to work on improving communication.

 She chairs the board’s communications committee and said, “I feel strongly about facilitating communication across the board.”

GUILDERLAND — , an accountant making his first run for the school board, has a clear goal: “No tax increase for a couple of years,” he said. “Let’s live with what we have to maintain.”

GUILDERLAND — Julie Fletcher Cuneo, a Guilderland High School graduate, says she’s making her first run for the school board because she cares about quality education and she cares about kids.

GUILDERLAND — The county’s first sales tax revenue payment for 2009 arrived on April 15, and Supervisor Kenneth Runion says he is “cautiously optimistic.”

Altamont adopts $1.1M budget

ALTAMONT — Although Altamont’s budget is $54,000 less than last year, property taxes will increase by 17 percent in 2009 to balance conservative estimates on revenues from county sales taxes.

GUILDERLAND — A company owned by the New York Press Association has been robbed of $400,000 over a period of five years, according to Michele Ray, executive director of NYPA.
