Knifepoint sunglass theft
GUILDERLAND Two boys brandished a knife when robbing sunglasses at Crossgates Mall, according to Guilderland Police.
Last Sunday, at about 2:30 in the afternoon, an 11-year-old and a 12-year-old stole two pairs of sunglasses from Sun Shades, a mall kiosk, the press release from the police department says.
When the pair was confronted by the shop owner, one boy “threatened the store owner with a knife,” the release says.
Police did not release the boys’ names because of their age.
Police responded when they received a call stating that someone was “being robbed at knifepoint,” the release says. The boys had run from the scene, but were “soon after apprehended in Crossgates Mall” by police, the release says.
Each of the boys was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and taken to Albany County’s juvenile detention center “pending Albany County Family Court action,” according to the release.
