On Thursday, May 2, the Guilderland girls’ lacrosse team hosted the Ballston Spa Scotties for Senior Night to thank the four graduating seniors. From the opening faceoff, the Dutch dominated play and defeated the Scotties, 17 to 2.

Last Wednesday, May 1, the Guilderland softball team hosted a huge Suburban Council matchup against Shenendehowa. The Dutch used two home runs and showed their toughness against the undefeated Plainsmen and pulled off a big win, 8 to 5.

GUILDERLAND — When Donna Merrill was a kid growing up in Sharps Corners, she’d ride her bike to the old general store at the junction of routes 20 and 158.

GUILDERLAND — The Fitness Court that opened in Tawasentha Park a year ago will be the site of free fitness classes this May and June.

The five candidates are all supportive of the district’s efforts with diversity, equity, and inclusion. They each see merits in state initiatives such as for electric buses and universal pre-kindergarten. And, while several expressed animosity toward Crossgates Mall for pursuing massive tax refunds, none of the candidates thought school budgets should top the state-set levy limit. For voters choosing among the five candidates, the differences lie in the professional and life experiences each would bring to the board as well as in the specifics of how they would wrestle with these issues.

Singer and songwriter Phil Teumim will host a Beit Kafeh, or coffeehouse, to showcase the singing, storytelling, poetry recitation, and musicianship of the Jewish community. 

About $5.5 million has yet to be recovered, which the Asset Recovery Unit of the United States Attorney’s Office is working on.

 “We want voters to know that we’ve heard community feedback, that they think that training for our staff is really important. And so we’ve made it a priority to do that, to make sure we can meet community needs and do what we need to do ….,” said Interim director Nathaniel Heyer. “This budget allows us to continue to provide a really high level of service … that folks expect and enjoy here.”

Chef Dominic Giuliano grew up in Southern California, two hours from the Mexican border, which gave him the opportunity to explore and fall in love with food he found off beaten paths in both places. Now, he’s bringing that cuisine to Guilderland’s Hamilton Square with Tacos Diablo, having built up a customer base through his first location in Nassau.
