The first tournament that the Under 8s played in was in Rhode Island in November. The team lost three games and won none.

About 30 Guilderland residents turned out for an Albany Common Council hearing Monday night on Sandidge Way Apartments, a project that would tear down 11 homes at the town’s northeastern edge and put up 173 “workforce-oriented” rental units in their place.

GUILDERLAND — Annette Landry wasn’t aware the Guilderland schools were in what she called a “huge paradigm shift” when she came to the school board last week.

ALTAMONT — Christine Marshall will be honored on June 28 at 6 p.m. when the parkland at the foot of Maple Avenue Extension is named for her. The triangular green space is planted with exotic grasses.

Marshall, who had served as a trustee on the village board since 2007, died on April 16.

ALTAMONT — Barbara A. Costin — who was “mainly a mom,” her daughter said — died peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2016, in Fairfax, Virginia surrounded by her family. She was 75.

Barbara Ann Lazzo was born and raised in Troy, New York and married Paul G. Costin in 1962.

GUILDERLAND — In September, ninety 3- and 4-year-olds are expected to attend pre-kindergarten in Victory Child Care classes housed in Guilderland schools.

On Saturday, June 11, ILoVeterans held a fundraiser at the Altamont Fairgrounds to raise funds for the veterans at home while on Sunday June 12, a group of runners for the Run for the Fallen came through Guilderland honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

GUILDERLAND — Cora Jean “CJ” Rapsard loved children and she loved beauty created by her own hands.

Mrs. Raspard died at her home in Guilderland on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. She was 87.
