GUILDERLAND — Rebecca Butterfiled is a child-health advocate who believes her expertise is especially valuable to the Guilderland School Board now as it faces educating children in the midst of a pandemic.

ALTAMONT — The Barker family would like to honor the 50th wedding anniversary of Ann and Glenn Barker of Altamont.

Ann and Glenn Barker were married on May 23, 1970 at St. Mary’s Church in Tuxedo Park, New York. They met while attending Oswego State University.

This Memorial Day Weekend, a community car parade celebrating Altamont’s small businesses and veterans will make its way through the village.

GUILDERLAND — The town and the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce are honoring local veterans and residents currently in the military by placing pictures of them on banners.

“I think it’s the unpredictability that is the challenge here, trying to plan for something that we don’t really know what it’s going to look like or what our needs are going to be,” said Guilderland schools Superintendent Marie Wiles, discussing next year’s budget. “I do think we’re going to need more resources, not less as we open the school year.”

This year, the Pine Bush Preserve is unable to hold its 16th annual Lupine Fest in person, so organizers have decided to get creative and are inviting you to share your creativity as well, with a virtual festival online.

GUILDERLAND — Sixth- and seventh-graders at Farnsworth Middle school won’t be pinning boutonnieres to their lapels or wearing their new dresses to the Spring Fling.

Cecile A. Durfee of Witherbee, New York “peacefully went to Heaven on Friday, May 8, 2020, with family by her side,” her daughter wrote in a tribute. She was 91.
