“Furloughs were not cost effective even in the future for the library,” Guilderland library trustee Barbara Fraterrigo said she learned. This is because staff put on furlough would be eligible for unemployment and, since the library is self-insured, “You reimburse the state for those funds anyway,” she said.

On Monday, Dec. 21, the Guilderland Food Pantry packed 250 Christmas gifts for food-pantry recipients. Serving as Santa’s helpers are, from left, Cindy Wadach, Darciane Leizer, and Anne Cost. The gifts were provided by surrounding Guilderland churches.

GUILDERLAND — New cases of COVID-19 were announced in two separate emails by Guilderland school leaders on Friday evening.

Superintendent Marie Wiles wrote that the district had learned of five cases either late on Thursday or on Friday.

ALTAMONT — Peggy Walker tried her hardest to make the world a better place, said her daughter, Dr. Elise Saks, and she made a difference. 

She died peacefully in her sleep at her Altamont home on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020. She was 73.

The issues Guilderland and Pyramid are appealing, according to the court filing, “are whether the court below erred in annulling the Town of Guilderland Planning Board’s site plan approval and SEQRA findings and whether the court below improperly replaced the Board’s discretionary determinations with its own judgments.”
