The annual Holiday Greens Show put on by the Guilderland Historical Society and the Guilderland Garden Club at the historic Frederick-Mynderse House was replaced with a holiday craft show and wreath sale at the open-door garage behind the house.

The Future Farmers of America at Berne-Knox-Westerlo decorated this tree behind the Knox Town Hall.

Walter and (Gloria) Jean Thatcher marked the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 8 in the same low-key manner they celebrated their wedding in 1960: without telling anyone or doing anything special.

ALTAMONT — Hillary R. Raimo of Altamont died unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020, with her loving family by her side. She was 47.

“Hillary was a visionary artist, award-winning photographer, author, radio talk-show host, and founder at Love, Breath, Earth,” her family wrote in a tribute.

GUILDERLAND — Francis J. Welnhofer, a World War II veteran and family man who worked at General Electric, died on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020, at his home. He was 101.

Public browsing at the Guilderland Public Library will wait until at least mid-January since massive construction work as well as restrictions to control COVID-19 make the planned reopening unsafe, trustees decided after hearing staff concerns. “Our lives depend on it,” said one library staffer of the delay.

The vote was taken after the Guilderland Town Board had exited an executive session to discuss pending litigation. Councilwoman Laurel Bohl cast the sole dissenting vote. Supervisor Peter Barber made the motion to file the appeal in the lawsuit brought against the town and Pyramid over the company’s Rapp Road and Western Avenue projects; Councilwoman Rosemary Centi seconded the motion. 

GUILDERLAND — For the third day in a row, Superintendent Marie Wiles has sent out a “Dear GCSD Families” email announcing another case of COVID-19 in the Guilderland Central School District.
