International flavor: The Altamont Fire Department held its 125th anniversary celebration on Sunday with food and festivities — including T-shirts emblazoned with its old and new fire engines. Two members of the Parliament of the United Kingdom who were shadowing Congressman Paul Tonko display their shirts as they pose in front of the volunteer company’s new rig. Chief Paul Miller, right, and Captain Tommy Tubbs, left, flank Tonko and Darren Jones and Stephanie Peacock.

Inspecting the new rig: Members of the Altamont Fire Department and other firefighters look at Altamont’s new engine on Sunday afternoon in Altamont during the departments 125th anniversary celebration. The rig is a 2018 Spartan that holds 1,000 gallons of water. Made by Toyne, it replaces both a 30-year-old engine and a squad truck that had extrication gear. The new rig cost $547,000, with $100,000 coming from the state.

Bouncing fun: Kids cavort inside a bounce house built to look like fire truck as screams of joy bounce from the fire-engine-red walls. The bouncing was part of the Altamont Fire Department’s 125th anniversary celebration on Sunday.
