Inspecting the new rig: Members of the Altamont Fire Department and other firefighters look at Altamont’s new engine on Sunday afternoon in Altamont during the departments 125th anniversary celebration. The rig is a 2018 Spartan that holds 1,000 gallons of water. Made by Toyne, it replaces both a 30-year-old engine and a squad truck that had extrication gear. The new rig cost $547,000, with $100,000 coming from the state.
