For third-graders at Lynnwood Elementary School in Guilderland, a Living Wax Museum held last Friday capped weeks of reading biographies. At the event, held in the cafeteria, students told visitors — parents, fourth-graders, and second-graders — about the lives of the historical figures they portrayed.

Proudly portraying heroes: Spencer Gray as Neil Armstrong holds up a moon rock, while Corey Celebucki salutes as Desmond Doss, the only World War II Medal of Honor winner who, as a conscientious objector, refused to carry a gun. In the museum, held in the school’s cafeteria, Lynnwood Elementary School third-graders told visitors — parents, fourth-graders, and second-graders — about the lives of the historical figures they chose to portray.

“Have you seen this hair?”: That was the rhetorical answer, given with a dramatic toss of the head, by Liam Dreaney, at right, when asked why he chose to portray Albert Einstein. Joshua Ray, at left, chose Einstein too, as did a third child, not shown. The wax museum also saw four Abraham Lincolns and two Helen Kellers.
