Autumn Equinox Hike on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 1:00 pm. Suitable for all ages. Equinox comes from the Latin words for “equal night.” As autumn begins, the temperatures drop and daylight wanes further. Join us for a 0.9-mile hike to learn about the effects of this yearly change on the unique ecology of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. This is a Hudson River Valley Ramble event. Guided Naturalist Hike of the Huyck Preserve with Chris Schiralli, local naturalist and Huyck Preserve Board Member Saturday, Sept. 15, from 9  - 11:00 am at Eldridge Research Center | 284 Pond Hill Road Rensselaerville, NY. The Guided Naturalist Hike is in association with the Discover the Hilltowns: Farms, Artisans & More Self-guided Driving Tour, on September 15 & 16, brought to you by the Helderberg Hilltowns Association.

Hudson Mohawk Bird Club Fall Bird Hike on Sunday, Sept. 16, 7:30 am – 12 pm. Suitable for adults. They may not be singing anymore, but fall is a busy time of year for birds. Our local residents are moving out and some non-local birds are stopping through the Pine Bush on their southward migrations. Join us this morning as we team up with the Hudson Mohawk Bird Club for a birding walk through the preserve. We will take our time hiking 2.6 miles through various habitats to search for birds of all shapes and sizes. Bring your binoculars or borrow a pair of ours!

On Sunday, Sept. 9, at 10 am:  Learn to Kayak at Thompson’s Lake. Join us for a beginner’s kayak course at Thompson’s Lake! Learn the basics of kayaking with emphasis on effective paddling strokes and safe practices. This introductory course is ideal for first time and beginner kayakers. Sturdy shoes/sandals are preferred. Program is appropriate for adults and children age 12 years and older. Space is very limited, pre-register by calling 518-872-0800. Morning Meander at 10:00 am.  Start your day outdoors, and join us for a hike along the trails of the Woodlawn Preserve.
