Frank Fuss, secretary of the Town of Knox Fire Commissioners will introduce the residential Knox-Box program as part of the Fellowship Group meeting at St. John's church. A pot-luck supper begins the evening at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation to follow. Knox Box is a high security key safe that only local emergency responders can access.

Birds and Bagels from 7:30 a.m. –9:30 a.m. Bring your appetite and your binoculars for a morning bird walk along the trails of Karner Barrens East. We’ll start with some breakfast and then head out to the trail for a hike. We will plan to be out for 2 hours, the distance will vary depending on how many birds we see and stop to watch. Citizen Science: Eastern Whip-poor-will Survey Training from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. Although it once kept people up at night, now the song of the Whip-poor-will is a rare sound in the Pine Bush. A nocturnal bird that is classified in the family of Nightjars, the Whip-poor-will has been in decline in New York for the past two decades. We hope to see it return as we restore its habitat, but we need your help to monitor for this now-rare species. Join us this evening to learn how you can become a Citizen Scientist and help us monitor Whip-poor-wills in the preserve. Ages 15+.
