“Good Books for Good Works” School Library Fundraiser on Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., The Woman’s Club of Albany and The Book House of Stuyvesant Plaza will host an evening of holiday book suggestions and a special sale to raise funds for the library at the Lincoln Community Elementary School in Schenectady.
Celebration: Guilderland Library Foundation is hosting a fun-filled event that celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the founding of our cherished library and the 25th year of our building. 6:30 to 9 p.m., and it will be a very special, Gatsby-themed cocktail reception. You’re encouraged to sport your Roaring ‘20s attire.
Those who have served our country and continue to serve have some incredible stories to tell. Join us for the sharing of stories from Veterans and active military members as a way to learn and to honor their service. Rob Spohr, who was deployed to Iraq in 2004 and later served in the NY National Guard, will be sharing his experiences as the Program Assistant for Songwriting with Soldiers. Local author and Iraqi Veteran, Ryan Smithson, will speak about his time in the Army Corps of Engineers and about his passion for helping other Veterans tell their story.

Kenneth Gloss, proprietor of the internationally known Brattle Book Shop in Boston’s Downtown Crossing section, will give a free and open talk at 6:30 p.m. at the William K. Sanford Town Library, 629 Albany Shaker Road, Loudonville, NY. Ken will discuss the value of old and rare books.
The Mavens of Mayhem Chapter of the Sisters in Crime will hold its next meeting at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Public Library in Delmar. The speaker will be Eleanor Kuhns who is the 2011 winner of the Minotaur Books/Mystery Writers of America First Crime Novel competition.
