Citizen Science: Eastern Whip-poor-will Survey Training on Tuesday, May 1, from 7 – 8 pm. Although it once kept people up at night, now the song of the Whip-poor-will is a rare sound in the Pine Bush. A nocturnal bird that is classified in the family of Nightjars, the Eastern Whip-poor-will has been in decline in New York for the past two decades. We hope to see it return as we restore its habitat, but we need your help to monitor for this now-rare species.
Knox Historical Society begins a new membership year at its regular meeting at 7:00 pm at Town Hall. Election of officers will be held and dues will be collected. Voorheesville native and Clifton Park Historian John Scherer discusses how the challenges of preserving history in a suburban town can be addressed even in Clifton Park and relates his experience to growing up in New Scotland.
