On Monday afternoon, Nov. 25, the season kicked off for the Voorheesville bowling squad as they took on Lansingburgh at Uncle Sam Lanes in Troy. The Birds battled the lanes and the talented Knights’ squad and fell 26.5-to-5.5 and (3513-3029) in total pins.

Last weekend, Nov. 16 & 17, the Guilderland field hockey squad competed in their first-ever New York State final four held at Arlington High School in field hockey.

Last Wednesday, Nov. 13, eight Guilderland athletes, seven pictured, signed their college national letter of intent to play collegiate sports next year.

Last weekend, Nov. 7-9, the Guilderland-Voorheesville girls’ swim team competed in the Section 2 Swimming championships at Shenendehowa High School to make an attempt to qualify for the state competition. Guilderville finished eighth overall with 122 points.

Last Wednesday, Nov. 6, the fifth-seeded Voorheesville Blackbirds competed in the Section 2, Class C semifinals at Ballston Spa High School as they took on top-seeded Galway. The Birds battled tough but fell in straight sets; 18-25, 17-25, 13-25.

Last Wednesday, Nov. 6, the second-seeded Guilderland girls’ volleyball team traveled up to Broadalbin-Perth High School to take on the third-seeded Bethlehem in the Section 2, Class AA sectional semifinal.

On Saturday, Nov. 9, the Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo cross-country teams competed in the Section 2 championships at Queensbury High School, the site for the state competition.

On Tuesday evening, Nov. 5, the Guilderland Dutchmen soccer team faced off against top seed Shaker in the Class AAA championship game at Bethlehem High School. The Dutch trailed at halftime but rallied to tie but Shaker’s talented squad netted two more as the Dutch fell, 3 to 1.

On Monday evening, Nov. 4, the fifth-seeded Voorheesville Blackbirds traveled to Maple Hill High School to take on the fourth-seeded Wildcats. The game was originally scheduled for Friday but due to no power at the school, the game was played Monday.

Last Wednesday, Oct. 30, the second-seeded Voorheesville boys soccer team traveled to La Salle Institute and competed in the Section 2, Class B sectional quarterfinal against the third-seeded Greenville.

On Sunday, Nov. 3, the Guilderland field hockey attempted to win its back-to-back Section 2, Class A titles. Guilderland faced off against Saratoga, whom the Dutch played last year as well.
