On Tuesday, May 28, the Voorheesville girls’ lacrosse team, the top seed in Class D, battled for their first ever Section 2 sectional championship in Class D as they took on Schuylerville, the second seed, at Schuylerville High School.

On Friday, May 24, the Voorheesville Blackbirds track team competed in the Section 2, Group 4 sectional championships at Coxsackie-Athens High School. After the rain out on Tuesday, the Blackbirds showed off their wings.

Last Thursday, May 23, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo track team competed in the Section 2, Group 5 sectional held at Waterford-Halfmoon High School. The boys finished third with 82 points and the girls finished in seventh with 34 points.

Last Thursday, May 23, the Guilderland softball team took on Saratoga in the Section 2, Class AAA championship game at Luther Forest Athletic Fields in Malta. The Dutch led in the third but couldn’t hold it and fell 11-4.

Last Wednesday, May 22, Guilderland outdoor track hosted and competed in the Section 2, Group 1 championships at Guilderland High School on a hot and steamy day. The girls won their second straight championship with 192 points, while the boys finished 8th with 51 points.

On Tuesday, May 21, the third seeded Guilderland Softball team competed in the Section 2, Class AAA sectional semifinal at Luther Forest Athletic Fields in Malta as they took on second seeded Shaker. The Dutch took control of the game in the sixth inning, taking the lead with two runs.

Last Thursday, May 16, Berne-Knox-Westerlo softball, the second-seed in the Section 2, Class C, faced off against Saratoga Catholic at home. The Bulldogs won 9-0.

Last Wednesday, May 15, the Guilderland girls’ lacrosse team, the fifth-seed, in the Section 2 Class A sectionals, traveled up the Northway and took on the fourth-seed Shenendehowa. The Dutch started out quick but Shen shut the door on the Dutch, 15-9, to advance.

On Tuesday, May 14, the Voorheesville Blackbirds softball team opened up their Section 2, Class B sectionals at Granville High School. The Birds stretched their lead late and won 6 to 0.

On Monday, May 13, the Guilderland Unified basketball team battled against Schenectady at home. With the game tied and just a few seconds left, a steal and a layup beat the buzzer and the Patriots as Guilderland won, 37 to 35.

On Saturday, May 11, the sixth-seeded Guilderland boys’ tennis team traveled to the third-seeded Saratoga in the Section 2, Class AA quarterfinals. The Dutch battled but fell to the Blue Streaks, 9 to 0.

On Friday, May 10, 21 Guilderland Student-Athletes signed their National Letter of Intent to play for their respective schools this coming fall.

Last Thursday, May 9, the Guilderland boys’ lacrosse team faced off against Suburban Council foe Columbia at Guilderland High School. Guilderland used the second half to pull away from the Blue Devils, winning 9 to 6.

On Saturday, May 4, the Guilderland outdoor track team competed at the 57th Harry Koch Colonie Relay Carnival at Colonie High School. The girls won with 128 points and the boys finished fourth with 63.50 points.

On Friday, May 3, the Voorheesville Blackbirds baseball team hosted the Lansingburgh Knights in a Colonial Council matchup at Dutchmen Field in Guilderland Center. The Blackbirds tried to rally but the Knights ended that rally in the Birds’ 7-to-5 loss.
