Photos: Guilderland Girls Go Back To Back

Last Wednesday, May 22, Guilderland outdoor track hosted and competed in the Section 2, Group 1 championships at Guilderland High School on a hot and steamy day. The girls won their second straight championship with 192 points, while the boys finished 8th with 51 points.

Minimal splash: Guilderland’s Braelyn Cornell hits the pool as she leads wire to wire win in the 2,000-meter steeplechase. Cornell had a time of 7:25.25.

Oh that’s cold: Guilderland’s Danika Kosier pushes off from her left foot as she makes a big splash in the pool from coming off the barrier. Kosier finished in fourth with a time of 7:54.96.

Wave pool: Guilderland’s Alex Balzersen (14) and Nathaniel Burke (15) both land in the pool as they make a lap in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Balzersen finished in 12th with a time of 11:51.82 and Burke didn’t finish.

Pushing it over: Guilderland’s Lauren Hickey easily clears the last hurdle in the hurdle portion of the pentathlon. Hickey finished 4th in the hurdles with a time of 17.93 seconds and 4th overall with 2237 points.

Smooth like butter: Guilderland’s Avery Kerr leaps up and breezes over the bar with ease in the high jump portion of the pentathlon. Kerr won with a height of 1.50 meters and won with 3171 points.
