Joseph Eugene ‘Gene’ Hanley

LOUDONVILLE — Joseph Eugene “Gene” Hanley was a father and grandfather who worked as an educator after serving in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive.

He died peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston, New York, with his family by his side. He was 81.

VOORHEESVILLE — In his work as an attorney, Donald Meacham touched every facet of his community’s life.

He started his long career as a sole practitioner “in beautiful downtown Voorheesville” in 1960, his wife said. “But, really, he would rather have been a farmer than a lawyer.”

Paul “Pawel” David Stelmaszyk

Paul “Pawel” David Stelmaszyk, a high school educator and lifelong runner, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. He was 80.

“He will be profoundly missed,” his family wrote in a tribute.

ALTAMONT — Beth and Sylvester Schiltz, a loving couple, both died in March.

Their family will be holding services on Saturday, June 10, at the Altamont Reformed Church, at 129 Lincoln Ave., at 10 a.m. followed by inurnment in Fairview Cemetery.

Thomas C. Smith Sr.

BERNE — Thomas C. Smith Sr. of Helderberg Trail served during the Korean War and had a wide range of interests including singing, painting, and camping.
He died on Wednesday, May 10, at St. Peter’s Hospital after a sudden illness. He was 91.

Anne Maguire MacIntosh

ALTAMONT — Anne Maguire MacIntosh —  a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who also nurtured children as a nursery school teacher — died peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2023. She was 91.

She was the first of five children born to the late James Maguire and Mary Lavine Maguire of Albany.
