HUNTERSLAND — Carl B. Schanz of High Point Road, who ran the family farm and worked in conservation, died peacefully at home on Friday, July 22, 2022. He was 94.

Solveig Snyder of Brunswick, Ohio, a nurse and mother who loved her family and Jesus, died peacefully Thursday, July 7, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was 91.

She was born on Dec. 7, 1930, to the late Ivar and Elna (née Tornquist) Wennerstrom in Pargas, Finland.

WARE SHOALS, S.C. — Lukas Michael Welsch of Ware Shoals, South Carolina — a devoted father, son, and friend — “entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 16, 2022,” his family wrote in a tribute. He was 29.

Born in Niskayuna, he was a son of Bernadine Stanton Peyton and the late Harold A. Welsch.

 

GUILDERLAND — Ralph Leizer, a high school math and computer teacher, was quiet and kind, his family said. He and his wife circled the globe three times and visited every state in the United States.

He died peacefully at his Guilderland home on Sunday, July 17, 2022. He was 85.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Nasser Navidar — avid mathematician, naturalist, film-lover, and exercise-enthusiast — died while visiting with his children in Guilderland on Sunday, July 3, 2022. He was 76 years old.

Stanley L. Dean III

ALTAMONT — Stanley L. Dean III, a devoted father and longtime Guilderland school employee, died in his Altamont home on Monday, June 27, 2022. He was 66.

Born in Albany in 1956, he worked for the Guilderland School District for over 30 years before retiring in 2018. 

GUILDERLAND — Beverly Jane (née Trumble) Reeb, her husband said, was great fun, had a remarkable intellect, and created beauty in many ways. A social worker, she also helped children with special needs.

She died on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, in Albany. She was 79.

EAST BERNE — Marvin R. Sample, an Army veteran and town highway worker, died Monday, July 11, 2022, in his East Berne home. He was 83.

Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Stanley and Lulu Schaffer Sample. He had lived in East Berne for the past 50 years.

Beverly Ann Bardequez

ALBANY — Beverly Ann Bardequez of Albany “went home to be with the Lord on July 2, 2022 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her beloved family,” her family wrote in a tribute. She was 73.

She was born April 13, 1949 in Albany, the daughter of the late Edward and Girlie Ferguson.

HOLLY HILL, Fla. — Victor Brush, a longtime resident of Westerlo, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. He was 83.
He was born on Nov. 17, 1938 in Newburgh, New York, to the late Norman and Charlotte Brush.

WESTERLO — George R. “Robbie” Snyder, who loved snowmobiling and logging, ran the family excavating business and also farmed.

He died at home on Wednesday July 6, 2022. He was 70.

VOORHEESVILLE — Carole (née Sellnow) Elmendorf, a mother and grandmother who loved animals, died on Friday, July 8, 2022. She was 83.
She was born on Aug. 4, 1939, daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy (née Ochse) Sellnow.

Harold J. Hughes Jr.

ALTAMONT — Harold J. “Hal” Hughes Jr. of Altamont, who was devoted to the law, died peacefully at Albany Medical Center on Thursday, June 30, 2022. He was 92.
