Solveig Snyder

Solveig Snyder of Brunswick, Ohio, a nurse and mother who loved her family and Jesus, died peacefully Thursday, July 7, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was 91.

She was born on Dec. 7, 1930, to the late Ivar and Elna (née Tornquist) Wennerstrom in Pargas, Finland.

She lived in Altamont for 54 years before relocating to the Carolina Shores, North Carolina. In April 2022, she moved to Brunswick, Ohio to be closer to family.

“Solveig loved her family and Jesus, serving as a volunteer at the King of Glory Lutheran Church in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She worked as a registered nurse before having her three children and for a time after they were grown.

“Solveig was an avid quilter and was never afraid to tackle a job to improve her home or someone else’s. She loved to entertain guests, and to play indoor and outdoor games including mahjong, dominos, and card games.

“Solveig will be deeply missed.”

Solveig Snyder is survived by her daughters, Carol Adriance and her husband, Andy, and Diane Disser; son-in-law, Christian Manss and his wife, Linda; grandchildren, Johann Manss and his wife, Beth, Grenn Manss and his wife, Lynn, Michelle Muretisch and her husband, Adam, Mark Adriance and his wife, Melanie, Stina Carter and her husband, Bill, and Stephanie Troy; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her extended family in Finland; and many close friends.

Her parents, Ivar and Elna (née Tornquist) Wennerstrom, died before her, as did her loving husband of 65 years, Luther Snyder; her daughter, Juanita Manss; her brother, Eric Wennerstrom; and her sister, Stina Wennerstrom.

As she wished, cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be held privately at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland.
