ALTAMONT —  John Pollard III had a fierce loyalty to Altamont.

Known to friends as “Jack,” Mr. Pollard died peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2022. He was 89.

Laura J. Gardiner

WESTERLO — Laura J. Gardiner, who went on mission trips as a member of the Westerlo Baptist Church, died peacefully on Monday June 20, 2022 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. She was 74.

Jean Hall Mooney

Jean Hall Mooney, of Glenrock, Wyoming — a devoted homemaker as well as a home economist and librarian — died on April 18, 2022, after a period of declining health. She was 93.

William Frank Mooney Jr.

William Frank Mooney Jr., of Glenrock, Wyoming, who loved his family, farming, and horses, died on July 13, 2020, after a brief illness. He was 92.
“It’s the way you ride the trail that counts; here’s a happy one for you …,” his family wrote in a tribute.

Helen Louise Misselhorn

Helen Louise (née Heidel) Misselhorn — a woman of great faith with a zest for life — died peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in Englewood, Florida. She was 97.

She was a former resident of Altamont and of Ayer, Groton, and Pittsfield in Massachusetts.

Willard J. Dibble Jr.

EAST BERNE — Willard J. “Bill” Dibble Jr. of Old Road in East Berne was a quiet, loving man who played guitar and worked for the county as an equipment operator.

He died very peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2022, after having the time to say goodbye to his family. He was 63.

 

GUILDERLAND — Leonard E. Friebel of Old State Road, a proud veteran, died on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022. He was 73.

“Sara Riggs passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 13, 2022, in Leesburg, Virginia with her granddaughter holding her hand and singing her to Heaven,” her family wrote in a tribute. She was 98. 

VOORHEESVILLE — Shirley (née Atkins) Casey, a wife, mother, grandmother, and nurse who over five decades ran a small-town medical practice with her husband in the heart of Voorheesville, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. She was 92.

Real L. Levesque

Real L. Levesque of Trenton, Illinois and formerly of East Berne and Zephyrhills, Florida, died on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 99.

He was born May 4, 1923 in Quebec, Canada, a son of the late Charles and Rose (née Lizotte) Levesque.

Sylvia Filkins

EAST BERNE — Sylvia Filkins (née Van Aller) of East Berne, a mother and grandmother who loved people, died peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022. She was 81.

Born in Middleburgh on Jan. 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Ellen Van Aller.

KNOX — Mr. Clyde T. “The Hurricane” Hallock Jr. of Knox, a hard-working and generous man, died on Friday, May 27, 2022, in Lecanto, Florida. He was 86.

He was born June 4, 1935 in Albany, the son of Clyde and Frances (née Acker) Hallock.

LONG ISLAND — Robert “Bob” Louis West, a music teacher who loved boats and served in the Naval Reserve, loved his family most of all. He died peacefully on Thursday, June 2, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was 85.

Maureen Pollard Martin Johnson, who was raised in Altamont, died on Dec. 21, 2021.

NEW SCOTLAND — Samuel Adelbert Youmans, of Voorheesville, beloved husband of the late Kathryn Elizabeth (née Sofield) Youmans, died on Monday, May 9, 2022 at home. He was 100 years old.
