BERNE —  Ann (née McCusker) Flaws, who loved being a teacher, died at home on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, with her husband and son by her side, after a six-month struggle with pancreatic cancer. She was 72.

BERNE — Mark W. Huth was dedicated to his family, his church, and his community. He died on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, after being injured in an automobile accident. He was 76.

“He was very much a doer,” said his son, Michael Huth. “He had a lot of integrity and cared a lot about others.”

BETHLEHEM — Brian E. Larsen of Bethlehem “lost his courageous fight with cancer on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, passing peacefully at home with his family and friends,” his family wrote in a tribute.

He was born in 1954. He worked for Hannay Reels in Westerlo for 10 years before leaving due to his illness.

KNOX — John Herholz is making a Christian cross to honor Christopher Vincent Davis of Altamont.

Davis died in a car crash in Knox on Sept. 13. He was 22.

“I darn near raised him since he was 8 years old,” said Herholz, a carpenter who lives in Berne.

KNOX — John C. Kolanchick was, his son Gary said, like a combination of Peter Pan and Warren Buffett.

Christopher Vincent Davis

ALTAMONT — Christopher Vincent Davis, of Altamont, loved and worked hard, his family said. He died unexpectedly on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 18, 2018. He was 22.

GUILDERLAND — Christian Peters died suddenly in a tragic motorcycle accident on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018. He was 21.

Born on July 30, 1997, he was a graduate of Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School and a proud and cherished member of the longshoreman union, Local 1294.

BERNE —  Leah C. Swint, “a homemaker who enjoyed helping others working as a home health aid,” her family wrote, “entered eternal life on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018.” She was 87.

ALTAMONT — Margaret Everett Hughs, who showed her creativity in the pottery and dramatic jewelry she made, died on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at Life Care Center in Keauhou, Hawai’i. She was 97.

Frances ‘Frank’ Herbert Person Jr.

VOORHEESVILLE —  Frances “Frank” Herbert Person Jr. — a World War II veteran who was active in community affairs — died peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany on Sunday, Sept. 9. He was 93.

Alice A. Fisher

NORTH GREENBUSH — Alice A. Fisher — a brilliant teacher and a devout woman of faith — died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018. She was 61.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John and Jane Doughney. Her beloved husband of 32 years, Robert (Bob) Fisher, died before her.
