Esther S. Lindsey was a hands-on grandmother who would “get right down on the floor and play” with her grandchildren, daughter-in-law Clarissa Chichester recalled.

Ms. Lindsey, who was 57, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Grandson Damion Schultz, age 9, said, “Life will be boring without her.”

ALTAMONT— A man who was still playing fast-pitch softball at age 50, Thomas R. Spohr took a lot of pleasure from life and enjoyed sharing its pleasures with others. He died Saturday, June 25, 2016, at age 82.

VOORHEESVILLE — A boisterous partier and athlete as well as a loyal family man and American Legion member, Donald G. Duncan Sr. wore many hats in his lifetime.

Mr. Duncan died unexpectedly on Monday, June 27, 2016, at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by family. He was 84.

ALTAMONT — Barbara A. Costin — who was “mainly a mom,” her daughter said — died peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2016, in Fairfax, Virginia surrounded by her family. She was 75.

Barbara Ann Lazzo was born and raised in Troy, New York and married Paul G. Costin in 1962.

Michael C. Hall, who loved working on big engines, was driven by a big engine — his heart.

“He was the best father ever to my wife,” said his son-in-law, Jason Courter. He also said, “If you met him for a day, it was like you were his family.”

POTTER HOLLOW — A well-known and well-loved figure in this hamlet, Kathryne A. Reed, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, leaving behind happy memories for many. She was 88.

GUILDERLAND — Patricia M. Napierski died on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Teresian House Nursing Home with her loving family by her side.

Ms. Napierski was born on December 3, 1941 in Albany to the late Thomas J. and Mary R. Murphy.

BERNE — Arlington "Link" Lee was a family man and a Ford man. A tireless worker, he enjoyed darts and diners. He died unexpectedly at his Berne home in the early hours of Tuesday, June 14, 2016. He was 83.

He was born on July 21, 1932, son of the late Mae Ingraham and Oscar Lee.

WESTERLO — Christine Beth Haller — a homemaker who raised four children and was “Gramie” to eight — died on Friday evening, June 10, 2016.  She was 66.

GUILDERLAND — Cora Jean “CJ” Rapsard loved children and she loved beauty created by her own hands.

Mrs. Raspard died at her home in Guilderland on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. She was 87.

ALTAMONT — Emmanuel Joseph Donato Sr. of Altamont, who generously shared his home-grown vegetables as well as his expertise in fixing engines, died at his home on Saturday, June 4, after a courageous battle. He was 63.

GUILDERLAND — Lamont Matthew Hungershafer Jr., a Korean War veteran and a world traveler, worked in the pharmaceutical business.

He “entered heaven peacefully” on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, his family wrote in a tribute. He was 87.
