New Yorkers may sign up to volunteer at their favorite state park or historic site as part of the fourth annual I Love My Park Day to be held Saturday, May 2. John Boyd Thacher State Park in the Helderbergs is among the parks participating in the event.

CLARKSVILLE — The pictorial history of Clarksville will be presented by Town of New Scotland Historian Robert Parmenter on Wednesday, May 6, at 7 p.m. at the Clarksville Community Church.

The Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission and the Audubon Society of the Capital Region will host the fourth annual Migration Celebration on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center at 195 New Karner Road.

Through a wide variety of musical selections ranging from classical to pop, the Depot Lane Singers in an upcoming spring concert will pay homage to cities, to the United States, to composers, to performers, to emotions, and to the seasons.

ALTAMONT — On Saturday, May 2, the day of the village-wide garage sale, beginning at 6 p.m., St. Lucy-St. Bernadette Church will host its annual dinner and basket drawing at its parish center on Grand Street in Altamont.  The public is invited and reservations must be made ahead of time — by Wednesday, April 29.

More than 400 graduates of Colonie Central High School Class of 1965 are invited to gather at Shaker Ridge Country Club on Saturday, June 13, to celebrate the school’s 50th reunion.

RENSSELAERVILLE — The Preston Hollow Beautification Committee Inc.  is holding a flower and bake sale on Mother’s Day  Weekend, May 8 through 10.

The Albany County Pomona Grange No. 4 will celebrate Rural Life Sunday on May 3 at 7:30 p.m.

A service will be held at the Huntersland United Methodist Church at 1355 Huntersland Road in Middleburgh. Pastor Carol Coltrain will give an address.

St. John’s Lutheran Church at 140 Maple Ave. in Altamont has an informal Sunday worship service at 8:30 and a traditional service at 11 a.m.

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

 Rev. Gregory Zajac will give the sermon at the 11 a.m. service entitled, “One Flock, One Shepherd,” based on John 10: 11-18.

BERNE — The committee planning the town’s annual summer event has started lining up vendors and musicians to fill the town park on Aug. 22.

The day will again feature a car show, a climbing wall, live music all day from the pavilion, and expanded children’s activities. It will culminate with a fireworks display.

The Helderberg Kiwanis restored the Knox-New Scotland school district schoolhouse on the Emma Thacher Nature Center grounds.  Daniel Driscoll will talk about the restoration, interviews with former students, and the records of school board meetings from 1824 to 1905.

The Audubon Society of the Capital Region is offering a week’s stay at what it bills as “a private birding paradise in Rensselaerville,” and is giving it away on Sunday, April 26, John B. Audubon’s birthday.

ALTAMONT — The public is warmly invited to attend the Sunday, April 12, special worship service at the Altamont Reformed Church, starting at 10:30 a.m.

ALTAMONT — Happy Cat Rescue is planning on participating in the village-wide garage sale, hosted by the Parent Teacher Association at Altamont Elementary School, in Altamont on May 2.

BERNE — The Berne Fire District Commissioners will not meet on April 14, as originally scheduled, but will hold their monthly meeting instead on April 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Berne firehouse.
