VOORHEESVILLE — Leonard E. Miller, known as “Lenny,” died on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014. He was 70.

He was the son of the late Edward and Elida Miller and is survived by his sister Mary Miller of Voorheesville. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

A loving and caring woman, Doris M. Relyea died Monday, Sept. 22, 2014. She was 99.
Born Oct. 6, 1914, Mrs. Relyea moved to Voorheesville when she was very young, after her father took a job as a telegrapher in the old railroad station.

A dedicated volunteer to health, political, and environmental organizations, Betty F. Kimball of Brooklyn, Connecticut died on Monday, July 7, 2014.

Mrs. Kimball was born to Madeline and Donald Farrell on Jan. 13, 1931 in Syracuse, New York and grew up in Chittenango, where her father owned Hotel Chittenango.

GUILDERLAND — Worthy C. Cox Jr., a quick-witted man who was dedicated to his family and his fire department, died on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014. He was 79.

He went “into the Arms of Our Lord,” wrote his family in a tribute.

Mr. Cox was born in Albany, the son of the late Worthy and Clara (née Bischoff) Cox.

ALTAMONT — A lifelong Altamont resident, long known as “Anthony the Washerman,” Kenneth M. Anthony died on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, after suffering a heart attack.

Born on Aug. 12, 1930, Mr. Anthony was the son of the late Merwin J. Anthony and Anna Blessing Anthony, and graduated from Draper High School.

ALTAMONT — Carole Ann Lindell, a mother and grandmother who loved her family and her village home, died on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Riverside Nursing Home in Castleton following a long illness. She was 72.

Mrs. Lindell lived in the same house in Altamont for 40 years, and raised 10 children.

 

BERNE — Richard J. Lyons liked making corny jokes but he also had a serious commitment to his work, his religion, and most of all his family.

WESTERLO — Gerald “Pete” Woodruff, an easy-going man who owned and ran Woodruff’s Store with his wife, died on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 at Albany Medical Center as the result of a massive stroke. He was 84.

SLINGERLANDS — Cheryl Lynn Carter, an independent woman who put family first, died at her home in St. Marys, Georgia after a valiant fight against cancer. She was 55.

ALTAMONT — John M. Farrand, a businessman, a family man, and a Vietnam War veteran, died on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 63.

He was born on Dec. 29, 1950 in Adams, New York, the son of the late Robert I. and Helen Francis Farrand.

RICHMONDVILLE — Grace Stott could be outgoing and enjoyed a good laugh, but she was mostly a gentle conversationalist who was focused on her two sons.

Ms. Stott died on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Evergreen Commons nursing home in East Greenbush, following several years with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 95.

EUGENE — Baisel Elmer Spencer was tough as nails and soft as clay. He loved his family and molded himself to support them.

SCHENECTADY — A socially active man who loved to travel, Lawrence “Larry” Leonard Pisarski, Sr., was a storyteller.

Mr. Pisarski died on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014 at the Stratton Veterans Hospital in Albany, with his family by his side following a battle with kidney cancer. He was 78.

GALLUPVILLE — Helen Pelepzuck devoted herself to raising her family at home and worked as a recess aide at Schoharie Central School District.

Mrs. Pelepzuck died on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014 at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown following a heart attack. She was 82.
