GUILDERLAND — Crossgates Mall has two new businesses — a clothing store and a restaurant.

GUILDERLAND — This Sunday, Aug. 10, St. Boniface Episcopal Church’s services will be at  at 8 and 10 a.m. with a special dedication of Pew Bibles for the Chapel of the Resurrection generously donated by William and Barbara Emerson.

The Hilltowns Players are pleased to announce auditions for our fall 2014 musical comedy, When in Rome...  Auditions will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, and Monday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Helderberg Lutheran Church on Route 443 in the village of Berne, next to the high school.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Garden Club invites the public to visit the perennial garden at the Mynderse-Frederick House located at 451 Main Street, Route 146, in Guilderland Center.  Garden club members began the development of this lovely garden in 2009 with the help of the Guilderland Parks Department and Master Gardener Keith Lee

NEW SCOTLAND — James Macklin of Voorheesville, the director of planning and research at Hudson Valley Community College, was recently honored with the President’s Award for Excellence in College Service.

The American Red Cross continues to have an urgent need for blood donors of all blood types to give before the Labor Day holiday, even after many more donors stepped up following an urgent call issued in late July. Donors with types O negative, B negative, and A negative blood are especially needed.

The Colonie and Guilderland chambers of commerce are offering a fully escorted tour in March of Tuscany in Italy, including the cities of Florence, Pisa, and Siena.

ALTAMONT — Pastor Gregory Zajac, of St. John’s Lutheran Church, will give a sermon on Aug. 3 titled "Yes, With the Help of God," based on Matthew 14:13-21, the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand.

Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. and the church is located at 140 Maple Ave. in Altamont.

ALTAMONT — The “Canyon Country” tour offered by St. Lucy/St. Bernadette Church in Altamont is almost sold out. The trip to western national parks will leave from Albany on Oct. 15 and return on Oct. 23, led by Jean Gagnon, manager of the Travel Plaza Center in Latham. 

The Albany Institute of History & Art is seeking artist submissions for the 2014 Exhibition by Artists of the Mohawk-Hudson Region.
