BERNE — The Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District has hired Brian Keller as its first dean of students to free the high school principal from disciplinary work. Keller sees his new job as an opportunity to teach students about life.

WESTERLO — Now that the town’s major parties have caucused, the slates for this fall’s elections are taking shape, with two town board seats and two town justice positions open.

GUILDERLAND — Eight candidates are vying for the school board seat left vacant when John Dornbush died in July. One of them served for 15 years on the board, and three of them were unsuccessful candidates in past elections.

GUILDERLAND — The Zoning Review Committee and the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce will begin work next week to update the town codes.

Attendance down at the Altamont Fair

 ALTAMONT — Despite a week of sun, attendance to the Altamont Fair fell by around 17 percent.
