NEW SCOTLAND – Striving to preserve New Scotland’s rural character, the town board recently passed two new laws – a right-to-farm law, and a noise-control law.





GUILDERLAND — The planning board last week gave conceptual approval to the proposed Glass Works Village neighborhood, for which the town board will uncharacteristically act as lead agent for the project.





ALTAMONT — The local gas station, convenience store, deli, and car wash, known as Ketchum’s, was recently sold to a Connecticut company for $787,500. Now it will be called Cobble Pond Farms.





NEW SCOTLAND – The family of Amelia Lee is mourning her unexpected death; She died when her home at 32 Lower Flat Rock Rd. burned on Aug. 9.





NEW SCOTLAND – David Moreau, a large landowner in town, complained to the town board last week about the fees he has to pay to divide his land.

BERNE — "We need to set aside our fears, set aside our politics, help our residents, and save our tax dollars," Berne Supervisor Kevin Crosier said at last Wednesday night’s town board meeting.





RENSSELAERVILLE — Town, school, and county tax are all based on assessed property values. Rensselaerville’s rolls had been skewed since town-wide revaluation was last done 15 years ago, so assessors are in the midst of updating now.
