John R. Williams is home from the hospital, having battled pneumonia, and is breathing easier with an oxygen tank. He got COVID-19 last Christmas and has been dealing with debilitating symptoms ever since while still turning out his upbeat column, The Old Men of the Mountain.

He recently quipped that he’s seen so many doctors that his primary care doc said they are sending his medical degree in the mail and he should receive it shortly. We told the scribe to put down his pen and catch his breath — we’ll all be waiting for his words of wit and wisdom on his return.
