Each year, your generosity fills a need here in Altamont

Reindeer will take Scouts to D.C., or at least profits from their sale will pay for the spring trip. Boy Scouts crafted the lawn ornaments and will sell them in Altamont’s Orsini Park on Sunday, Dec. 11, during the Victorian Holiday Celebration.

To the Editor:

The members of Boy Scout Troop 264 and our supporting organization, Altamont American Legion Post 977, would like to thank the community of Altamont for the support shown of our annual food drive to assist the Altamont food pantry. Through your generosity, our troop collected 234 bags containing 1,618 food items that will assist those in need here in our wonderful community during the cold holiday season. Each year, your generosity fills a need here in Altamont.

We also appreciate the donation of cans and bottles that our troop  will use for scouting activities and equipment throughout the upcoming year.

We look forward to seeing all of you on Sunday, Dec. 11, during the annual Altamont Community Traditions Victorian Holiday Celebration. Our troop will be providing hot chocolate and candy canes as well as tending fires in Orsini Park. We will also be selling homemade sweet treats.

This year, for the first time, we will be selling decorative holiday reindeer in Orsini Park. The proceeds from the sale of the wooden reindeer, which we made ourselves, will be used to help in paying for our Troop’s trip to Washington D.C. during spring break in 2017. We plan to visit the United States Capitol, White House, and other historic landmarks.

Thank you again for your continuing support.
