A win-win solution sought for Altamont

To the Editor:

I am writing to ask the community to come together to join the Altamont Village Board on Wednesday, Dec. 12, to express your concerns about rezoning a residential property to commercial, and instead help find a plan to address Stewart’s space and traffic issues that is a win-win solution for both the community and the store.

We all value the service Stewart’s has provided Altamont for many years. For me personally, in addition to the many stops I make throughout the week, I have a niece and nephew who visit from Oklahoma every year, and they have actually asked me if I could send by dry-ice some Stewart’s Fireworks ice cream in between visits.

But we also care deeply about the character of the village, protection of our neighborhoods, and the small-town atmosphere that has brought so many, young and old, to want to live and raise their families here.

We are all neighbors and friends, and my hope is that, if we work together with the village board, we can find a solution that serves both the community, and Stewart’s, well.

Please come on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. to make your voices heard!
