Clothing donations appreciated, money still needed

To the Editor:

The Kiwanis Club of the Helderbergs and the Helderberg Family and Community Organization announce the end of the clothing collection aspect of the “Clothes for the Hilltowns” drive to benefit Hilltown families served by the Hilltowns Community Resource Center.

We would like to thank the many generous members of our local communities who have donated good quality clothing, coats, shoes, and boots for all ages, sizes, and genders, as well as monetary donations. We now have a large supply of clothing items for our volunteers to organize and supply to folks in need during these economically challenging times.

An especially big thank-you goes to the local businesses and organizations that served as clothing drop-off sites. We also express gratitude to the many adult, teen, and pre-teen volunteers who are helping sort and organize the clothing donations.

We are still accepting monetary donations to purchase items needed by families. Please make checks payable to: Russ Pokorny, 69 Beebe Road, Berne, NY 12023.

For any further questions about the clothing drive, please contact Zenie Gladieux at or 518-894-8589.

Families in need may contact Mary Beth Peterson, at or 518-966-7380.
