Hypocrisy is a terrible way to lead

To the Editor:

If “our planet is at a tipping point with climate change,” [“Vote as if the future of our world and our democracy depends on it,” The Altamont Enterprise, Nov. 4, 2024] and if politicians, who claim to believe in the theory of manmade global warming act in opposition to their own words, by jetting and limousine-ing around to political rallies and fundraisers, are we to believe their empty words, or their examples?

For example, have politicians recently jetted around to campaign appearances, causing the much feared warming, to stop that warming? Imagine a drunk drinking all her booze, because she knows booze is killing her, so she wants to get rid of her booze — before she buys more.

Hypocrisy is a terrible example by which to lead, especially on existential threats to our children's world.
