We’re lifelong Republicans supporting Dan Hanley
To the Editor:
As longtime residents of Knox, we wanted to take this opportunity to express our wholehearted support for Dan Hanley's candidacy for Knox Town Board. We do so not because of party affiliation (we're lifelong Republicans supporting a Democratic candidacy), but instead because of Dan's never-ending commitment to the town of Knox, its youth in particular, and the Hilltown community as a whole.
We've known Dan through his volunteerism in a variety of school and community-based programs. He's been a longtime supporter of Berne-Knox-Westerlo Boy Scout Troop 79, serving as mentor and merit-badge counselor to Scouts across the entire BKW community.
Dan also devoted countless hours of volunteer service in support of community youth soccer programs, serving rain or shine, in both coaching and organizational roles. He and his wife, Tami, were probably among the first to arrive and the last to leave last month's Jean Forti charitable 5K, likely investing far more time in its planning and organization.
As educators and parents of four children, both Dan and his wife are active and ardent supporters of the BKW school community as well, always willing to step up when there's a need.
We've had the good fortune of knowing Dan and his family for a number of years. He's very much a family-oriented man quite clearly committed to the community and its future. His drive, people skills, and common-sense approach toward getting things done are exactly what's needed for the town board position. We encourage you to cast your ballot for Dan Hanley on Nov/ 8.
