Marker to honor New Scotland’s Revolutionary War patriots

To the Editor:

As our nation approaches the 250th anniversary of its birth, it is especially fitting that the patriots who fought for our independence be honored and remembered.

On Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m., a historic marker commemorating the nine American patriots buried in the Jerusalem Cemetery will be dedicated. These patriots all served in the Third Regiment of the Albany County Militia commanded by Colonel Philip Schuyler.

This dedication follows that of the “Patriot Burials” marker located at the New Scotland Cemetery honoring the 14 patriots buried there. Both markers were funded by a grant from the Pomeroy Foundation awarded to the New York State Sons of the American Revolution.

The New Scotland Historical Association invites all to attend this event. The Jerusalem Cemetery is located at 5-9 Old Quarry Road, Feura Bush, New York 12067.
