Berne is stronger when parties are cooperative and respectful

To the Editor:

We are addressing this letter to the Berne Republican Committee.

We, the members of the Berne Democratic Committee, care deeply about this town and everyone who calls it home.

We’d like to take a moment to thank you, the Berne Republican Committee, for the respectful and cooperative spirit you’ve shown throughout this election season.

Over the last year, it’s become clear that both of our committees are committed to serving with integrity and professionalism.

It’s been genuinely encouraging to see us working together, showing that real progress comes from good faith, respect, and working in a way that puts Berne above party.

One example of this spirit is that both committees are proudly supporting and campaigning for several of the other party’s candidates — some are even running on each of our own ballot lines. This is what happens when people put community first.

When this election is over, the Berne Democratic Committee pledges to keep this spirit alive. We look forward to continuing to work respectfully and in good faith with you in the months and years ahead to better our town.

As one of our shared, bipartisan candidates said so well, “We’re all working together for the benefit of all residents, not for a party, or a special or personal interest. You take the oath, you do the job.” We couldn’t agree more.

We look forward to helping Berne become stronger than ever on the shared foundation that our two committees have built together this year.
