October Arts Amble is free

To the Editor:
The newly formed Berne Parks and Recreation Board has been busy planning fun outdoor events for all ages. During the summer we offered a hike at Switzkill Farm featuring the history of the farm, followed by a drum circle event at the Berne town park.

On Saturday, Oct. 16 (rain date of the 17th), we will return to Switzkill Farm for the first-ever October Arts Amble in Berne. This unique event will feature dancers, musicians, and art displays throughout the woods and fields.

You can view the displays from atop a hay wagon (rides will leave at 2, 3, and 4 p.m.) or, if you prefer, guided walking tours will allow you to go at your own pace. Weather permitting, the fall foliage and views of the Catskills should be fantastic.

Everything starts and finishes at the Retreat House, where, on the lawn, there will be games and crafts for kids and cider and doughnuts for all. Come dressed for the weather and for a good time. Everything is free so tell your friends and neighbors to meet you at Switzkill Farm between 1 and 5 p.m. on the 16th!
