Reactivated rail line is a very real threat

To the Editor:
Thanks to The Altamont Enterprise for keeping us updated on the Norfolk Southern/CSX plan to rehabilitate a rail track in Voorheesville that has been abandoned for more than 10 years.

As residents of the village of Voorheesville we are deeply concerned about the impact of the proposal on our beloved village. This issue is of grave concern to us as we live about one-third of a mile from what would become an active rail crossing, running near the Village Animal Clinic and the Voorheesville Public Library.

The houses along Prospect Street would suffer most with a rail line just feet away from their mailboxes.  We have been to the Voorheesville monthly meetings to voice our concern about this very real threat to our environment, the safety of our neighbors, and the quality of life in our village.

The Enterprise has been providing us with very informative articles on an ongoing basis and, for this, we are most grateful.
