New Dem chairman tries to block democratic process

To the Editor:

Last week, the Guilderland Republican candidates Brian Forte for supervisor along with Kathy Burbank and Michele Coons for town board filed opportunity-to-ballot petitions on the Independence and Conservative lines.

These candidates worked extremely hard to gather more than two times the required signatures to allow them the right to primary the incumbents this fall.

Last week, the new Guilderland Democrat chairman, Jacob Crawford, filed objections against these petitions without merit to try to block this democratic process. These actions taken by the Democratic Committee are exactly why voters are so frustrated with our government.

Mr. Crawford owes the people who signed these petitions an explanation as to why their signatures and support should be denied.

This attempt to block the democratic process by the new Guilderland Democrat chairman should not be tolerated. The people of this town should be allowed to voice opposition to the current administration.

Let’s stop the political games and allow the people of these parties to decide who their candidate is on Sept. 12.

Douglas Breakell, chairman

Guilderland Republican Party
