How to marry the friendly resident with the unique New Scotland businesses

To the Editor:
I am writing regarding Jesse S. Sommer’s column in last week’s Enterprise, “Making a living is what makes life worth living.”

Of my own 51-plus years encompassing myself by being a New Scot, I have come across many reliably comfortable things to be happy about. Many memories involve the quaint businesses that I frequent and those that I still have yet to venture upon.

When I started this concept of “Our New Scotland” (ournewscotland.com), it was with the branding mindset of how to marry the established, friendly resident with the unique New Scotland business that some may have yet to experience.

The entity was established and upon that, some of the said unique minds have been coming together, growing together and that’s only one part of what makes the ground-level initiative a success story. We’re solving the “I didn’t know you were here” statement.

Community Day on Aug. 20 will bring it all together.

With my own local marketing business, Shufelt Group (theshufeltgroup.com) reaching 25 years now, I reflect upon the smaller milestones of camaraderie mixed in with the larger purpose of marketing exposure over time. That makes the success of almost anything that is good grow — right?

Well, with utmost excitement, I am thankful for the Gracie’s Kitchen’s, the Northern Barrell’s, the New Scotland Spirits’ “spirit and dream” — with everyone’s business model here in Our New Scotland! The bridge of Our New Scotland with the naturally branded, ever existing, quaint, cozy town of New Scotland, helps the exposure naturally.

I often call my clients “family” or part of the “group,” which resonates with what “we’ve” now grown into — our dreams that make life worth living, our community, “Our New Scotland.”

The very feel and the essence of “OUR” town is making now old and new “New Scots” and I love the history of it all.

See you at Community Day, Aug. 20, in Nichol’s Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.!
