Inspiring to stand with people of color

To the Editor:

Thank you for your article about the march for racial justice in Rensselaerville on Sunday, June 14 [“National movement grips rural Rensselaerville as more than 100 march for racial equity,” June 18, 2020].

I was honored to be present for this peaceful and welcoming event. As our First Amendment guarantees “the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances,” it was inspiring to be a part of a gathering of mostly white people standing in solidarity with people of color against the ongoing struggles with racism and police brutality in this country.
