District leader supports Cleary
To the Editor:
In response to last week’s opinion regarding the Guilderland Democratic Committee, I would first like to express my opinion of how the system works. The Guilderland Democratic Committee is a group of volunteers who care enough about their town, county, state, and country to spend their time helping people that they believe have similar ideals and beliefs and will represent them as elected officials.
The Legislative District 32 Committee interviewed both candidates for county legislature openly and fairly to decide who to endorse. Endorsement means choosing the person we would all be willing to work for and who would be the best and strongest representative of Guilderland LD 32 in the election.
The committee voted unanimously to support Mickey Cleary. No one told any of the committee members who to vote for.
The endorsement had nothing to do with causing a primary. Paul Miller caused Mickey to have to fight in a primary by announcing he was not going to run for re-election and then changing his mind after he was aware that Mickey had already submitted all the legal paperwork to run.
I enthusiastically support Mickey Cleary for election to the Albany County Legislature from the 32nd District.
Thomas V. Robert RA
Guilderland
District Leader
